About me
I began my tattoo career in 1991, as part of a wave of art school graduates and other enthusiasts who embraced this intriguing and very social art form, creating a renaissance at the turn of the Millennium. My practice was shaped by the body-modification scene of the 1990’s, and I adopted a strong bent toward the personal expression process, weaving in a spirit-infused perspective. At the time, the scene was based primarily in San Francisco, and its adherents researched and explored the transformational power of body art through history and practice. Because of this movement, and the interest in tattooing among painters, illustrators, artists, and art lovers, tattooing holds a unique cultural position and role in contemporary identity. Concurrently, I trained in a variety of shamanic and earth based spiritual practices, and various energy healing techniques. Tattooing is a unique art form in that it is involved with identity and the human body, and for that reason, it holds great potential for healing on many levels. I endeavor to bring these threads together through my practice.
